Picnic-Perfect Italian Deli Sandwich

Ingredients:
🥪1 large ciabatta loaf or 4 ciabatta rolls (split in half)
🥪4 tablespoons pesto (or olive tapenade for variation)Instructions:

Prep the bread:
Slice the ciabatta loaf horizontally. If desired, lightly toast the inside surfaces to prevent sogginess. -
Spread the base:
Spread pesto (or tapenade) evenly over both halves of the bread. -
Layer the fillings:

Start with provolone cheese (acts as a moisture barrier).

Add turkey or ham, then salami or pepperoni.

Layer roasted red pepper slices and arugula.

Add optional toppings if using.

Season:
Lightly drizzle olive oil over the top, and season with a bit of salt and black pepper. -
Assemble & press:
Close the sandwich. If making one large sandwich, press it down gently and cut into 4 portions. -
Wrap for travel:
Wrap tightly in parchment paper or foil. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes (or refrigerate up to a few hours) to let the flavors meld.
Tips for a Better Picnic Sandwich:
